Confirmation, baptized Christians make an adult profession of the Christian faith
and receive strength for Christian life from the Holy Spirit through prayer and
through the Bishops laying on of hands. Confirmation typically requires
preparation through instruction; this is true for both adolescent and adult confirmands.
Anyone interested in being confirmed should contact the Rector to set up times
for instruction
 The
Rite of Reconciliation (The Book of Common Prayer, page 447) provides for private
and personal confession and absolution along with one-on-one spiritual advice
and counsel. Anything shared within the context of the Rite of Reconciliation
is under the seal of the confessional, that is, the content will not be revealed
to or discussed with others. The Rite of Reconciliation is available to all who
desire it and is not restricted to particular times or seasons. Many people, however,
find it especially helpful during Advent and Lent and other times of special
spiritual preparation. Those interested in the Rite of Reconciliation should contact
the Rector.
 Anointing
the sick with oil (Unction), or the laying on of hands, is the rite by which Gods
grace is given for the healing of spirit, body, and mind. Thus, when clergy visit
the sick, they routinely pray for the sick and lay hands upon them, with or without
the use of holy oil. People in many different situations find it helpful to be
anointed and to receive the laying on of hands. Some of these situations are:
dealing with chronic conditions affecting spirit, body or mind; dealing with ones
own physical illness or the physical illness of a loved one; preparing to undergo
surgery or other medical treatment, or recuperating from the same. Those wanting
to receive anointing and the laying on of hands should contact the Rector.
